Bradley Whitford on the set of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

One of my favorite moments from The Late Show With Stephen Colbert last year was a short film directed by Spike Jonze when Jonze was on the show to promote Viceland. It’s meloncholic, surreal, and just a strange way to open a late night show. Last week, in an interview on Face the Nation, John Dickerson asked Colbert about the film and his collaboration with Jonze. (I hope the Grover connection in the film that Dickerson notes is true.) You can watch the original short film below:
Nothing has done more damage to me than love. Not fat, not salt. Alcohol’s come close, but alcohol is usually stepping in when his old pal ‘love’ can’t be there tonight.
I think all men especially need to examine their own conscience to be aware of what they might have done in the past and how, in the future, they can treat women with greater respect; and it starts with believing the people who make the accusations.

“I know I’m not supposed to be up here, but let’s be honest, neither is Donald Trump,” he said Sunday as security removed him from the stage at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

- Stephen Colbert on the Florida shooting and the Florida House voting NO on reinstating the assault weapon ban.“I hope these kids don’t give up, cause this is their lives and their futures. This country belongs to them, and there’s reason for hope. Look at the #MeToo movement. A lot of men in power didn’t see it coming, but it proved that change can happen over night. And this is an election year, and if you want to see change, you have to go to the polls and tell the people who will not protect you, that their time is up.”
I suppose fear is like a drug. A little bit isn’t that bad, but you can get addicted to the consumption and distribution of it. What’s evil is the purposeful distribution of fear.
